Fergus McCreadie: 'Flight Pass' for Piano, Violin & Cello

Pianist Fergus McCreadie performs Flight Pass, his new commissioned piano-trio work blending jazz and Scottish folk, at Ashburton Arts Centre.

Flight Pass is a new four-movement piano-trio work by Mercury Prize-shortlisted pianist Fergus McCreadie, commissioned by Chamber Music Scotland and Kings Place for the 2026 EFG London Jazz Festival. The piece extends his jazz-and-Scottish-folk sound into a chamber setting for piano, violin and cello, with each movement flowing at a different pace. Its title comes from a photograph of a black winged kite and its offspring contending over prey, reflecting the work's interplay of conflict and kinship.
