Green Futures: ROOT
About
A free four-day workshop course for Lambeth 18-25s exploring weeds, biodiversity and urban nature, ending with a participant-led public open day.
ROOT is a four-day free course of workshops celebrating urban nature and wild plants, run as a co-learning space for young people aged 18-25 from Lambeth interested in plants, urban greening and community organising. Day one rethinks the weed through the institute's garden and herbarium collections; day two is a local pavement plant walk with plant collecting and herbarium-making; day three critically examines plant language such as "native vs. alien" and contributes to a collaborative plant art project. The final afternoon sees participants co-lead a public open day with activities helping others learn about weeds and wild plants.
