About
Genealogist Dr Wanda Wyporska explores slave registers and Slave Compensation Commission records as sources for tracing enslaved Caribbean ancestors.
Dr Wanda Wyporska, genealogist and CEO of Black Cultural Archives, examines the registers of enslaved people dating from 1813–1834, which record Caribbeans and Africans and the plantations on which they were exploited. She also discusses the Slave Compensation Commission documentation of 1812–1851 and other useful sources for tracing Caribbean heritage. The session runs for 90 minutes and is part of the Welcome to Black Family History series.
