About
A free LMS/BCS-FACS seminar in which Andrew Hodges speaks on Alan Turing's role in the emergence of computing, followed by a reception.
The London Mathematical Society, in association with BCS-FACS, hosts this seminar on the computer science–mathematics interface, held at De Morgan House and online via Zoom. Andrew Hodges will give a talk titled 'Alan Turing, The Absent Father of Computing', examining Turing's 1936 foundations, the 1945 computing plans and his reticence about his own role, illustrated with little-known documents. The programme runs from 16:00 with welcome and refreshments, the talk at 16:30, a reception at 17:30, ending at 18:30, chaired by Andrei Popescu.
