Winter Crafts Workshop: Pomander Making

A cosy evening craft workshop in the Baronial Hall making orange pomanders while learning their history, for adults and young people aged 11+.

This hands-on winter crafts session teaches participants how to make orange pomanders, the fragrant fruit-and-spice decorations once believed to protect against illness and bad smells and now a symbol of winter festivities. Held in the Baronial Hall, the workshop also explores the centuries-long history behind the craft. It is suitable for adults and young people aged 11 and over, and proceeds support the Library's collection and Medieval buildings.
