About
A British airman survives a plane crash and falls in love with an American radio operator, before a heavenly messenger summons him to the afterlife.
Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s 1946 fantasy follows a wartime airman whose unexpected survival leads to romance and a summons from heaven. The film contrasts Technicolor England with a monochrome afterlife, while leaving open whether the heavenly visions stem from a brain injury.
