Paul Atkinson, author of Amplified: A Design History of the Electric Guitar, gives an evening talk about the instrument's journey from experimental hand-built project to mass-produced icon. The book traces how amateur makers, tinkerers, musicians, designers and corporations shaped the guitar's design, looks and sound, featuring new interviews with players and makers. Doors open at 7.10pm for a 7.30pm start in the events space below the bookshop, and £5 tickets can be redeemed against a signed copy of the book on the night.
