Workshop: Spoon Carving by the Fireside (BBC2806)

A day-long spoon carving workshop with craftswoman Fay Jones in the woods at Bradfield Woods, making spoons and spatulas by the fire.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust hosts a relaxing day of green woodworking with spoon carver Fay Jones in the purpose-built craft area at Bradfield Woods, sheltered around a fire. Participants select and split wood, then carve a teaspoon or dessert spoon with knives and spoon knives; after lunch they use shave horses and drawknives to make a larger spoon or spatula. The 5.5-hour session runs 10am–3.30pm; attendees should wear outdoor clothing and stout footwear and bring a packed lunch and mug, with tea and coffee provided.
