Blue Heron

On Vancouver Island, eight-year-old Sasha watches her family’s new start become unsettled by her older brother’s increasingly volatile behaviour.

The BFI programme account places the film in the late 1990s and follows Sasha’s Hungarian family as they settle into an unfamiliar home. Through her observations, the film explores childhood memory, strained relationships and emotional distance.
