Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983)

At a Japanese prison camp in Java during the Second World War, British officer Jack Celliers and Captain Yonoi become locked in a clash of wills.

Colonel John Lawrence’s understanding of Japanese culture gives him a distinctive view of the camp run by Captain Yonoi. He and Sergeant Hara witness the mounting conflict between Celliers and Yonoi, two men from very different backgrounds.
