The Spirit of St. Louis

Billy Wilder’s 1957 biopic follows Charles Lindbergh’s attempt to make the first solo transatlantic flight, screened from a 35mm print at BFI Southbank.

The film pairs Lindbergh’s Atlantic crossing with flashbacks to the people and decisions that shaped his ambition. The BFI lists the screening as a 35mm presentation and identifies James Stewart, Murray Hamilton, Patricia Smith and Bartlett Robinson in the cast.
