The Red Shoes

A young ballerina must choose between her dedication to dance and her love for a composer in Powell and Pressburger’s 1948 drama.

Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s 1948 film follows Victoria Page as her ambitions as a ballerina conflict with her personal life. Ballet, music and vivid Technicolor shape the story of an artist pulled between competing commitments. The film stars Moira Shearer as Victoria, Anton Walbrook as impresario Boris Lermontov and Marius Goring as composer Julian Craster. Grosvenor Museum presents the film on Criterion Collection Blu-ray. Advance booking is required.
