Victorian Women – Seen but not Heard?

The museum’s 2026 seasonal exhibition explores Victorian women’s lives and the limits society placed on them, using photographs, costumes and objects while highlighting local women whose achievements went unrecognised.

Through archive photographs, costumes and objects, the exhibition considers how Victorian women were viewed, what opportunities they had and how they pushed beyond social limits. It also shines a light on local women who achieved remarkable things without receiving the recognition they deserved.
