Introduction to Gardening
About
A one-day beginner gardening workshop at Walworth Garden covering soil, propagation, pruning, pests and sustainable gardening practice.
This popular introductory workshop at Walworth Garden is aimed at people with little or no gardening experience, especially those hoping to start gardening at home. The session covers growing media, compost and soil, propagation basics, easy plants to grow, gardening with nature, pruning, and ecosystem-friendly approaches to pests and diseases, alongside planning considerations such as right plant, right place. Charlie, a Garden Education Officer at Walworth Garden, leads the day, which allows plenty of time for questions and discussion. A separate 'Introduction to Food Growing' course and a two-day version of this workshop are also offered.
