Stanford: Mass in G & Rutter: Magnificat

Wokingham Choral Society opens its 75th anniversary season with Stanford's Mass in G and Rutter's Magnificat at All Saint's Church.

Wokingham Choral Society marks the start of its 75th anniversary season with a programme of British choral music. The concert features Stanford's Mass in G Major, performed from a new edition prepared by musical director George de Voil and James Speakman in what is believed to be only its second concert performance with orchestra, alongside Rutter's Magnificat. The Mass, completed in 1892, shows influences from Schubert, Dvorak, Bruckner and Beethoven.
