Muscle Memory
About
A six-artist joint exhibition at Copperfield exploring how skills, gestures and memories are passed between generations without words.
Curated by Copperfield in collaboration with galleries in Stockholm, Milan, Beijing and Shanghai, this group exhibition examines non-verbal inheritance — the gestures, skills and mannerisms learned by observing elders. Works include Anna Gonzalez Noguchi's orchid-inspired talismanic objects, Rafal Zajko's ceramic relief translating his grandmother's sewing machine, Li Li Ren's sculpture centred on breath, Narges Mohammadi's film recalling flour sifted from sand in wartime Afghanistan, Aziza Kadyri's patchwork tapestry on handcraft versus digital design, and Luana Vitra's mineral sculptures. The exhibition is open Wednesdays to Saturdays, 12–6pm.
