Event 49 | Sara Wheeler | Jan Morris

Biographer Sara Wheeler discusses her authorised life of writer Jan Morris at Bridport Arts Centre.

Sara Wheeler talks about her authorised biography of Jan Morris, the pioneering journalist who reported the 1953 Everest ascent and the Eichmann trial and later documented her 1970s gender transition in the memoir Conundrum. Granted access to Morris's personal diaries and archives, Wheeler explores the contradictions of a Welsh nationalist, intrepid traveller and unyielding romantic. Wheeler is an award-winning travel writer and biographer whose books include Terra Incognita and Cherry: A Life of Cherry Apsley-Garrard.
