About
The 2026 John Dinkel Memorial Lecture explores the history and cultural significance of the dragon robe.
The lecture, presented by historian Rachel Silberstein, examines the dragon robe, a key regulated garment of the Qing Chinese government. She also considers examples worn by various groups outside that government, including women, actors, deities, and foreigners. Attendees can also view the exhibition "Fire and Water: Dreaming of Dragons" in the Prince Regent Gallery before the lecture.
