Cuban Cinema in Frames: An Exhibition Presented in Support of London Latino Film Festival
About
An exhibition of original, hand screen-printed Cuban film posters from ICAIC, sold in support of the London Latino Film Festival.
Eclectic Gallery displays original Cuban film posters hand screen-printed in Havana and supplied directly from the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), each stamped and certified authentic, with all works available to purchase. The exhibition traces how ICAIC, founded in 1959, turned the film poster into an art form, distilling films into single bold images drawing on pop art, photomontage and abstraction; the 1960–1980 collection was inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register in 2023. Featured artists include René Azcuy Cárdenas, Antonio Fernández Reboiro, Rafael Morante, Pepe Menéndez, Julio Eloy, Ernesto Ferrand, Arturo Santana and Nelson Ponce, with posters including Besos Robados, Harakiri, Cuba Libre and Fresa y Chocolate, each measuring 76 by 51 centimetres. The show supports the London Latino Film Festival (LoLaFF) and runs Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6.30pm.
