About
A photography, poetry and film exhibition brings portraits and stories from Queen’s Park Community School’s S.M.I.L.E. projects into Willesden Gallery. Artist Kay Rufai’s project celebrates Black young people and challenges negative media stereotypes.
Send Me Inspiring Loving Energy (S.M.I.L.E.) is a series of ten-week creative arts programmes with students at Queen’s Park Community School. Led by artist Kay Rufai, the projects use photography, poetry and film to support Black young people’s mental health and wellbeing while challenging negative stereotypes. This exhibition presents the young people’s portraits and stories in the gallery and is curated by Brent Emerging Curators.
