About

Acclaimed historians Suzannah Lipscomb and Kate Williams present a live discussion exploring Mary, Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I. Working back from Mary's execution at Fotheringhay Castle, they examine the chain of events and decisions that led Elizabeth to sign her cousin’s death warrant. Drawing on the latest research, they explore espionage, treason, and gender politics in the Tudor world, from William Cecil’s spy networks to the Babington Plot. They challenge traditional narratives, reframing the queens' choices as acts of courage and consequence.
