Seedlings with Carmen

A free monthly reading group at Calthorpe Community Garden exploring apples and sweetness, with readings, tasting experiments and conversation games.

This month's Seedlings session takes fruit — and apples in particular — as its theme. Participants will read about the origins of apples from Dan Saladino's 'Eating to Extinction' and about our desire for sweetness from Michael Pollan's 'The Botany of Desire'. The evening includes tasting experiments using 'tasting wheels', sampling from 'feral' roadside apple trees, a collaborative fruit tree map, and a conversation game with strangers. Attendees should email in advance to join and receive the readings.
