TASDAG – Raphael, a god amongst painters
About
A TASDAG lecture by Dr Chantal Brotherton Ratcliff taking a fresh look at the art and genius of Renaissance painter Raphael.
This lecture asks 'what is the magic of Raphael?', taking a fresh look at the Renaissance painter whose name was long the model for artists but who is less well known today. It explores his qualities of grace, harmony and idealised beauty, his ability to transform himself across his career, and what might have followed had he not died tragically early. The speaker, Dr Chantal Brotherton Ratcliff, studied History of Art at Edinburgh University and has taught at Sotheby's Institute of Art since 1989, bringing her training as a paintings conservator to her lectures. Guests are warmly welcomed, in person or online.
