About

Tony Warner and Roberto Nigro present a double bill on London’s hidden Black histories and the influence of blues and gospel on British popular music.

Warner discusses Black music history embedded in London’s streets. Nigro examines Granada Television’s 1964 Blues and Gospel Train, using music, film and contemporary accounts to explore transatlantic cultural exchange and the development of British rock. Historical musicians discussed in the presentation are subjects of the talk, rather than a live performing bill.
