About

Tony Roberts compares the Merz and Grubb refracting telescopes at the Royal Greenwich Observatory and discusses why the observatory acquired them and how their shared mount was chosen.

The programme focuses on the Royal Greenwich Observatory’s 12¾-inch Merz and 28-inch Grubb refractors, including their mounts and the observatory’s move from positional work toward acquiring these telescopes.
