Muncaster Talks: Eskdale’s Lost Christmas Carol

A carol rediscovered in Whitehaven archives is revived with new music in a festive talk about Cumbrian Christmas traditions.

The page describes an Eskdale Christmas carol written in the diaries of Rev William Sykes and rediscovered in Whitehaven archives by researcher Alan Cleaver. Lamplugh composer Dave Camlin wrote new music for the carol, which is being premiered at Muncaster. The evening also includes other Christmas music and tales of Cumbrian traditions. Muncaster lists arrival and refreshments in the Great Hall at 6:30pm, with the talk beginning at 7pm in the Drawing Room and a Q&A afterwards. The general series page describes talks as approximately 45 minutes to one hour; no exact finish time is published.
