About

The Hallé Youth Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky, Boulanger and Bernstein's West Side Story Symphonic Dances under conductor Aku Sorensen.

The Hallé Youth Orchestra gives a concert inspired by Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, opening with Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. Aku Sorensen, winner of the 2026 Siemens Hallé International Conductors Competition, makes his first live appearance with the orchestra, leading Lili Boulanger's D'un soir triste and Bernstein's West Side Story: Symphonic Dances. The programme fuses jazz, Latin rhythms and symphonic power in a bold and vibrant evening of orchestral music.
