The Christophers | Film: “Art can be copied. Artists cannot.”

Festive screenings of Steven Soderbergh's 2026 art-world comedy The Christophers, starring Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel.

Linden Hall Studio closes its 2026 art-film programme with two screenings of The Christophers, a new art-world comedy directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by Ed Solomon. Ian McKellen plays Julian Sklar, a reclusive painter from London's 1960s art scene whose estranged children (Jessica Gunning and James Corden) enlist forger Lori (Michaela Coel) to uncover his fabled unfinished canvases. The 99-minute, certificate-15 film explores authorship, authenticity and the value of art through a sharp, darkly comic battle of wits. Matinee and evening screenings run on the same day, with tickets including a complimentary glass of wine.
