Paint Like an Expressionist

A five-session tutored evening art class in Colchester exploring expressive, non-realistic painting inspired by expressionist and abstract expressionist artists.

This tutored course runs over five Monday evening sessions in November, teaching participants to paint bold, expressive pictures in a free, uninhibited way. Lessons draw inspiration from artists from Edvard Munch to Egon Schiele, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and American abstract expressionists, discussing self-expression and art-historical context. Students work mainly in acrylics, plus oil pastels and other mediums, painting from life, imagination and photographic reproductions. All materials and tea and biscuits are provided, and the classes are open to all abilities.
