American Doctor + hands, trees, heads, scars

A Folkestone Documentary Festival screening pairing the feature American Doctor, about US medics volunteering in Gaza hospitals, with the short hands, trees, heads, scars.

This festival screening pairs two documentaries. American Doctor (93 mins, directed by Poh Si Teng) follows three American doctors volunteering in Gaza's overwhelmed hospitals as the humanitarian catastrophe worsens and medical staff become targets, with the doctors increasingly speaking out politically and in the media. It is shown with hands, trees, heads, scars (14 mins), an intimate portrait of massage therapy for amputated Ukrainian soldiers at Lviv's largest rehabilitation centre, exploring the relationship between patient and therapist in wartime. Both films screen with subtitles for all dialogue.
