Howards End (1993)

In Edwardian England, the liberal Schlegel sisters become entangled with a wealthy industrialist family and a struggling working-class couple, as class divisions and social change collide.

James Ivory's 1992 drama charts the shifting class relations of a country on the verge of modernity, following Margaret Schlegel and her sister Helen as their lives intertwine with the prosperous Wilcox family and the less fortunate Basts. A sweeping romance and social drama, it features Emma Thompson, Helena Bonham Carter, Anthony Hopkins and Vanessa Redgrave among its ensemble.
