Exhibition: Library of Lost Books - Stories from the Lost and Found
About
A free exhibition at Leo Baeck College Library traces the journeys of Nazi-confiscated books from Berlin’s Higher Institute for Jewish Studies through provenance research.
Photographs, documents and selected books show how a German-Jewish scholarly library was scattered after its 1942 confiscation and how provenance research has traced its surviving volumes. The venue holds 250 books from the collection, including a Herlingen Haggadah. The exhibition is curated by Kinga S. Bloch with Cassy Sachar. It runs from 27 November 2026 to 1 October 2027 and is free to visit during library opening hours. Exact hours and access dates after the presently published library visiting guidance remain unknown; none are inferred in this record.
