Stories in Sound
About
A free lunchtime classical concert by University of Surrey music students telling stories through works for clarinet, piano, voice, violin, trombone, flute and jazz piano.
Stories in Sound is a lunchtime concert of classical music built around the idea that every piece tells a story, from love and adventure to loss and wonder. Students from the Department of Music and Media perform a varied programme including Hurlstone's Four Characteristic Pieces, Liszt's Sonetto del Petrarca No. 104, Gurney's Sleep, Franck's Violin Sonata (first movement), Coltrane's Naima, Koetsier's Elegia, Debussy's Rêverie and Schulhoff's Flute Sonata. The concert runs 1.10–2pm and is designed to be accessible to both seasoned concertgoers and first-time listeners.
