Urdu Poetry Workshop: 'Na Kisi ki Aankh ka Noor hoon' by Bahadur Shah Zafar

A workshop led by Zahra Halepota exploring Bahadur Shah Zafar's Urdu poem 'Na Kisi ki Aankh ka Noor hoon' through themes of power, loss and colonialism.

Parho Co hosts an Urdu poetry workshop centred on 'Na Kisi ki Aankh ka Noor hoon', written by Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal Emperor. Participants receive a copy of the poem and are encouraged to engage with and interpret it, alongside discussion of the historical context in which it was written, covering themes of power, loss and colonialism. The session runs from 6pm to 8.30pm and is led by Zahra Halepota, an anthropologist and artist specialising in Indo-Persian literary and visual cultures; a drink is included in the ticket price.
