About

A free community lantern parade through Lister Park with giant puppets, live music and a theatrical finale, preceded by paid lantern-making workshops at Cartwright Hall.

The Lister Park Lantern Parade returns with this year's theme, Celebration of Life, part of the Festivals of the Dead project created with Cecil Green Arts, the University of Bradford and Bradford Death Cafes. Four hour-long lantern-making workshops run at Cartwright Hall during the day, costing £6 per lantern with materials, lights and artist support provided. From 16:30 entertainment begins outside Cartwright Hall, and at 17:30 the parade of handmade lanterns, giant puppets, community groups and schools sets off through the park with live music from the Peace Artistes, Banda na Rua and Drum Machine. The procession reaches the Bandstand for a theatrical finale at approximately 18:30, and Cartwright Hall stays open until 19:00 with a quiet sensory space available in the Learning Room.
