Ian Davenport: Reflections
About
A survey of Ian Davenport’s paintings and drawings traces his experiments with flowing paint, colour and chance from the late1980s to recent work.
Early erased-line pieces, fan studies and watering-can drawings appear alongside arch and circle paintings, poured-colour works and more recent splatter paintings. The exhibition includes the monumental1991 canvas Untitled(LargeWhite), and follows the development of methods that balance controlled colour sequences with unpredictable paint movement. A related publication contains essays and a conversation with the artist; its contributors are not billed as live participants. Visitor hours are published separately, with bank-holiday closures; exact holiday dates and entry prices are not specified in the retained programme evidence.
