Malmesbury & the American Connection
About
A free exhibition at Athelstan Museum tracing Malmesbury's connections with America, from 17th-century settlers to later migration and ongoing links.
Marking America's 250th anniversary of independence, this exhibition explores the town's ties with the United States, starting with the earliest settlers in New England and Virginia in the 17th century. It follows the later migration of more than six hundred people to Pennsylvania and Ohio and examines the enduring legacy in both countries. Richly illustrated displays, biographies and original artefacts show links that continue to this day. The exhibition runs during usual museum opening times, with the museum open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays.
