House of Lords - The Missing Rung: AI and the Route into Work
About
A chaired panel at the House of Lords on how AI is disrupting the entry-level rung of professions and the apprenticeship route into work.
This panel discussion examines evidence that employment for 22–25 year olds in AI-exposed occupations has fallen sharply while older workers' employment rose, and how automation is eroding the routine trainee work on which professional apprenticeships depend. Four professionals who disagree with each other debate the issue under chair Lord Clement-Jones, with an opening contribution from a young jobseeker. The hour-long, slide-free session is followed by questions and drinks; airport-style security applies and registration closes a week beforehand.
