Legendary Journey with Flying Scotsman

A Fox & Edwards Events heritage train tour from Darlington to Stanhope and back, with Flying Scotsman leading one direction and a diesel locomotive hauling the other.

Fox & Edwards Events offers a journey from Darlington via Bishop Auckland and the Weardale Railway to Stanhope and back, approximately 60 miles return, with about three hours travelling and one hour at Stanhope. Flying Scotsman leads the train in one direction; a diesel locomotive hauls it in the other, with Flying Scotsman on the rear in “top and tail” formation. The railway publishes two approximate itinerary options: 08:40–12:50 and 13:40–17:45, with an hour at Stanhope. These times are provisional pending Network Rail confirmation; updated times are to be sent nearer the dates. The listed trip dates are 13, 14 and 15 November 2026. Traditional Class is £79 and First Class £129 per person; an optional First Class exclusive table upgrade is £49. There are no child-specific fares and every child needs a full-price ticket. Meals are not included; an onboard buffet sells drinks and light snacks. Dogs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters cannot be carried on this heritage train.
