Ramble to the roost
About
A guided Norfolk Wildlife Trust ramble to the raptor roost watch point at Hickling Broad to watch marsh harriers, cranes and other birds come in to roost.
Norfolk Wildlife Trust leads a guided walk from the Hickling Visitor Centre to the reserve's raptor roost watch point. Along the roughly 1.5-mile route over uneven, sometimes muddy ground, the group looks out for key species, then spends time at the watch point counting marsh harriers and cranes as they come in to roost, with barn owl and pink-footed geese also expected. Participants are advised to wear sturdy footwear and bring warm clothing, binoculars and a torch, as the watch point is exposed to the weather.
