About
A Newhaven Historical Society talk in which David Gee recounts how derelict Newhaven Fort was saved from ruin, preceded by an illustrated history from Ian Everest.
Former fort manager Ian Everest opens the evening with an introductory illustrated talk on Newhaven Fort's history, from its construction in the 1860s to its abandonment and ruin a century later. David Gee then tells the story of how, in 1977, he and Les Thorpe explored the derelict fort and went on to save it through persuasion, hard work and persistence. The talk was previously advertised for 6 October 2026 and was rearranged for this date. Doors open at 6:45 pm.
