About

Tate Modern's first exhibition dedicated to ink painting, featuring around 80 works by twentieth-century artists from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Ink is Tate's first exhibition devoted to ink painting, introducing the tradition's historical continuity and relationship to the natural world. Organised around the themes of 'Life', 'the Garden' and 'Breath', it brings together around 80 works by artists from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan who reinvented ink painting in the twentieth century. The show traces connections between these artists and challenges familiar Western narratives of modern art. It is presented in the Eyal Ofer Galleries.
