September in the Rain

John Godber's nostalgic comedy about Liz and Jack's annual trips to Blackpool across three decades of marriage, staged by Bowness Theatre Festival.

John Godber's September in the Rain follows Liz and Jack on their yearly trek across the Pennines to Blackpool, from their 1950s honeymoon to their bickering pensioner years. The play swings between joy and heartache, tracing a long marriage through sharp, witty dialogue and dry Yorkshire humour. The production stars Mark Stratton and Meriel Scholfield, and a matinee lunch ticket including soup and a sandwich at The Burrow Café is offered.
