A Small and Quiet Light
About
A play at the Orange Tree Theatre based on the life of SOE agent Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan, facing Gestapo interrogation in 1943 Paris.
Set in October 1943, the play depicts a Gestapo interrogator questioning a young woman known by many names, one of Britain's Special Operations Executive secret agents and the first female radio operator sent undercover into France, who has been betrayed after evading capture longer than most. As she faces her fate, memories crowd in of her father, a thwarted lover, her journey to war and her longing for her childhood piano. The production is based on the life of Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan (1914-1944), who fought against fascism at the ultimate cost.
