Vessels of Earth

An exhibition of hand-built ceramics by Japanese artists Akiko Takahashi and Tamotsu Suzuki at Flow Gallery.

Vessels of Earth brings together two Japanese ceramic artists who work slowly and by hand. Akiko Takahashi shows at Flow Gallery for the first time, exhibiting coil-built forms that are deliberately broken open to reveal hidden interiors, alongside a new collection of vessels by Tamotsu Suzuki. The dark clay surfaces preserve traces of fingertips and meet pale slips, with weathered textures and organic forms drawn from the natural surroundings both artists describe in their statements.
