Filmmaker Rustin Thompson travels across ten states to find what remains of small-town movie theatres.
The journey covers 10,825 miles and 123 theatres, from abandoned and struggling cinemas to places kept alive by their caretakers. Excerpts from Peter Bogdanovich’s 1971 film and reflections on exhibition history connect the road trip to the continuing role of cinema as a community gathering place.
