About

Photo Fringe's 2026 symposium in Brighton explores photography as a feedback loop shaped by AI, archives and algorithmic circulation.

This four-hour symposium brings together a programme of short talks from artists, curators and researchers examining how images are generated, circulated, recombined and reactivated across artistic practice, computational systems and institutions. Speakers including Ben Burbridge, Jen Grasso, Stanislas Sauvage, Devon McCulloch, Micheál O'Connell and Rachel K Gillies present topics ranging from a post-rave Britain archive to machine learning in archival access. The afternoon closes with a panel discussion, 'Bury After Reading: The Afterlife of Images', hosted with The Sustainable Darkroom, exploring ethics and editorial practice around what happens to images after we have seen them.
