Relaxed screening: The Watermelon Woman + intro and discussion

A relaxed screening of Cheryl Dunye’s film is curated by Stims Collective and followed by a discussion hosted by BFI Festival Events Coordinator Erène Bennett.

In Cheryl Dunye’s funny, incisive debut, a filmmaker investigates a forgotten 1930s Black actress as the histories of the two women begin to echo one another. This relaxed screening includes an introduction and a post-screening discussion of neurodiverse perspectives, curated by Stims Collective and hosted by Erène Bennett. The relaxed screenings are intended for neurodivergent people and their assistants and carers.
