About

Professor Matthew Cobb gives a lecture re-examining the discovery of DNA's structure and the true story of Watson, Crick and Rosalind Franklin.

Professor Emeritus Matthew Cobb of the University of Manchester presents a lecture challenging the popular belief that Rosalind Franklin's famous DNA image was the key to Watson and Crick's 1953 discovery. Drawing on new discoveries, he examines what actually happened in February 1953 and the evidence behind the widely repeated story. He also explores the friendships between Crick, Watson and Franklin, which lasted until her death in 1958 and were closer and more collegial than commonly imagined.
