About

A free public panel discussion exploring what Greater Manchester's devolution and growth model under Andy Burnham's premiership could mean for the North East.

This INSIGHTS Public Lecture brings together senior voices from the North East, Manchester and central government, alongside academic perspectives, for a panel discussion on 'Manchesterism'. With Andy Burnham now in Downing Street, the panel will examine whether Greater Manchester's experiment in regional leadership, devolution and place-based growth can or should be replicated elsewhere, and what the North East can learn from it. The discussion covers differences in economic structure, institutions and political leadership, and whether a government led by a former regional mayor could change how devolution works across England. The event includes an audience Q&A, followed by networking, drinks and refreshments.
